MacGuyver

MacGuyver Laird Hoffman was born on May 4, 1986 and passed away on June 4, 2000. We had so many great times together and he filled the void when my husband passed away on April 17, 1987 and has been my constant companion and friend all these years. Mac waiting to eat his birthday cupcake He contracted diabetes in December of 1999 and was getting 7 units of Pork Insulin twice a day which he did not like the needle at first but soon became use to it. The first week in May he started panting too much so took him to the vet where x-rays were taken of his lungs. The vet told me that Mac had some sort of strange fungus infection and put him on antibiotics which did not help very much, he continued to pant. He would not eat on the morning of June 4 and I could only give him three and one half units of insulin.  At six o'clock that evening he walked into the kitchen, looked at his food and water dishes and walked into the hallway and collapsed. I held him, stroked him and talked to him as he looked at me with those beautiful brown eyes as if to say good-bye. I know he is in a better place and will suffer no more.

This picture was taken on his fourteenth birthday and after I took the lit candle off, he devoured the cupcake.

There will never be another MAC.  I will love him always.
