Betsy "Mom...wooof wooof it was April's (the minpin) Idea"

There ain't nothin' worse than a drunken dawg..
But a real close second.. is a hammered hawg..

Or a riled up rabbit, maybe a slammie-hammie,
(but nobody's ever caught them on the digi-cammie)

But a drunken dawg, now they'll cause great worry,
'Cause them dawgs git real drunk.. quick - fast - in a hurry.

The drunken dawgs don't care, where their legs will hike,
Why I saw one hike on the mailman.. after they tied him to the spike!

And they cuss like ol' tomcats, they cuss of a storm..
A drunken dawg can cuss and cuss.. just ain't in the norm.

They teeter and totter and fall flat on their faces,
Them drunken dawgs.. they be some salty dags.. causing' all those tail chases.

Why I heard a story - how they ruined a whole town..
They drank and they drank from sun-up till sun-down.

And the story goes on, or so I am told,
'Bout how them drunken dawgs made Betsy's mom - grow old <sigh> very old.

They say ol' Betsy, in her true drunken way,
Burped in her mom's face and made her faint dead away.

Oh.. trust me dear neighbor, my sweet dear friend..
If you ever meet a drunken dawg, you'll never want to again.

'Cause there ain't nothin' worse than a drunken dawg, boy howdy!
Them drunken dawgs.. danged drunken dawgs.. they sure get loudy!

Holy POOOOO!!!

So last night April (ndd mini pin) is staggering around--having fits (that usually end with seizures--this is something she has always done--dont know why) vomiting, diarrhea (with a streak of blood) and just basically scaring the hell out of me(couldnt get a BG reading to save my soul)...Puppy barfs dinner and I freak out--then Betsy barfs, then Molly gets sick---I say "What in the hell is going on?" and "There goes tomorrows curve all to hell"...we also found a bottle of baby aspirin with most of them eaten....ARGGGHHH  APRIL!!!!

Today everyone is fine---Mom goes outside...we are outside working...Come back inside and mom says "Jeri what is that sawdust looking stuff outside--the dogs are eating it"...
"WHAT?????"  I look at Jim--he goes running and it seems that a few weeks ago he found some grain left over from the previous tenant so he "tried" to throw it over the dog fence into the big woods and part of it landed inside the dog yard--well for the past few days it has rained a bit--ok more than a bit--and now the grain is turning into alcohol---so I had drunk dogs yesterday!!!

I was going to take them into the hospital to have them all checked but at 85.00 each thought well if they all don't die b4 monday we will just go to the reg vet with the live ones!!!
I am going to attempt to do a curve tomorrow provided nothing else happens...I tell ya 4 dogs and that mini pin is worse than 40 toddlers in a closet--I know she started it all...and I don't dare check BGS as I know everyone is off the board high from the juiced up grain they all ate!!!Anyway--Jim got rid of the grain--they are all searching for their snack (ha ha its gone--solved that one i did)--and everyone is back to acting like normal---April couldn't have had a hangover because I know she is the one that ate the aspirin....she is lucky she didn't hurt herself or she would have bled to death internally!! She is going potty normal now with no blood...
Whats next????

1134am         115
0130pm          96
0330pm         237       walk (short one)
**still have more to do---

Seems like Betsy has been the most affected by the Keg party...as she was hypo last night...kids came screaming into my room that something was wrong so I staggered upstairsand found her having "body hiccups" and snapping her jaws in the air as if she was trying to catch imaginary flies....I was a bit confused being roused from a deep sleep and thought "what the hell now??"  then I remembered she was a diabetic (duh) so I ran for the test kit and she staggered out into the kitchen behind me where she promptly collapsed....I checked her bg and it was 17,...ran for the karo, asked everyone where it was then realized I was starring right at it...rubbed it into her gums and she licked it off my fingers faster than I could drip it all over the place...I had a 12 pack of pepsi sitting on the floor next to me and told the kids to hand me a bowl--she started licking the pepsi until she got the first hit of the fizz and then stopped--I swirled my karo--ey fingers in it until it was flat then she drank all of it--waited about 5 mintues and she was still "hiccupping and snapping" so I grabbed a glazed donut and she scarfed that down---waited a few more minutes and she stopped acting funny then I rechecked her and her bg was 89....it seemed like it was forever but the meter assures me it was only 22 minutes between readings---I was so stupid from being woken up and dragged around the house that I said to the family (everyone was up by now) "k--I'm goin back to bed--if she starts up again let me know"....mom (poor woman) stayed up all night watching her sleep....Betsy started to have a dream and twitched a little and mom almost came unglued--she woke her up to make sure she was OK...OMG I am going to have to install a door bell from upstairs to downstairs as mom cant yell loud enough to wake me--she said betsy had been doing that for over 30 minutes when I finally got up there...I asked why she didnt call 911 and have them call back--our phone would have gotten me out of bed (for those of you who dont know--my mom is 76 has emphysemea and osteophorosis--she cant do stairs--our upstairs is actually the first floor and our bedroom is in the basement. So this a.m. I downed her insulin by 2 units just in case it was over a
bit---but I think it was because of the Keg party they all got into---

I will post the rest of the curves later...

Picture of the real culprits will go here!!
I want to thank Jeri for allowing her letters to be used on this site and for Charls
taking time to write the poem and to Harriet for supplying the original picture!
This page besides being humourous is meant to show you accidents with food
and our diabetic furchildren will happen...but it is not the end of the world.
At least we always hope it isn't....so don't despair try and find the humourous side!
